Week 3

I  appreciate spending hours for Improvisation lecture’s readings, because after all, they really make sense!

I was talking with Rachel in the end of the class and we were wondering that if we had had Improvisation lessons in the first term, perhaps our understanding about solo and trio performances would have been performed in a better quality… It’s surprising how exactly this lecture opens our minds and imagination how to move…

The task “Continue, develop, change”, really required to challenge myself. I had to pay my attention in what I was doing, but at the same time what I was asked to. I have involved my intention to continuous movements and, probably, self-awareness when I had to get rid of my mundane thoughts and just listen what my body talks to me…
At the end of the class I was able to answer the questions which were put on wall. However, the question about the form is still not answered… I really enjoyed reading Composing while dancing: An Improviser’s Companion where some of dancemakers’ investigations to their form were described. But on the other hand, how could I know my way and form when I am so fresher here? Eventually, probably I still don’t know neither my form of my improvisation nor ‘my dance’  in general… Hopefully, I still have 3 years to find the right direction…

What else I found this week?.. Well, I don’t know why, but sometimes it is really hard to be in the studio. And it is not because of that I don’t want to be there. I just catch myself that usually my minds are somewhere else. It is hard to relax when we do our ”warming up”, but it is much easier for me to do it when we work in groups, even when I know that I was followed by my partner’s eyes… I do not want to refer my dancing to the quote “Fake it till you make it” in the class… But what should I do???
